Description

These crispy, flavor-packed tacos are a copycat of Applebee’s famous appetizer. Each bite delivers savory glazed chicken, tangy slaw, and creamy drizzle tucked into a golden wonton shell. Great for parties or a fun twist on dinner!

Ingredients

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced

2 tablespoons sesame oil

3 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey (plus more for slaw)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

2 cups coleslaw mix (red & green cabbage, carrots)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

12 wonton wrappers

Chopped green onions, for garnish

Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish

Creamy garlic sauce or ranch dressing, for drizzling

Oil for brushing or frying

Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add diced chicken and cook until no longer pink.
  2. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger. Simmer until sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  3. In a bowl, combine coleslaw mix with rice vinegar, a drizzle of honey, and a pinch of salt. Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
  4. Shape wonton wrappers over a taco mold or oven rack. Lightly brush with oil and bake at 375°F for 5–7 minutes or fry until golden.
  5. Assemble tacos by filling each shell with chicken, slaw, and a drizzle of sauce. Garnish with green onions and cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately for best texture.
