This Baked Ziti with Ground Beef and Ricotta is a hearty, cheesy, and deeply satisfying dish that brings together a rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and perfectly baked pasta, all topped with melty mozzarella and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Ingredients

1 pound ziti pasta

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup ricotta cheese

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and brown the ground beef. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer 15-20 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the cooked pasta with ricotta and half the mozzarella.
  5. Layer sauce and pasta mixture in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
