This Best Baked Turkey Meatballs recipe is a healthy, oven-baked alternative to traditional meatballs. Made with lean ground turkey, fresh herbs, and pantry staples, it’s the perfect protein for pasta, subs, or meal prep. Juicy, flavorful, and easy to freeze, these turkey meatballs are a weeknight favorite and a great addition to any low-fat dinner plan.
Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup yellow onion, grated
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, garlic, grated onion, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
3. Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to portion the mixture into evenly sized meatballs. Roll gently and place on the prepared baking sheet.
4. Drizzle olive oil over the meatballs if desired for extra browning.
5. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the tops are lightly browned.
6. Let meatballs rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. Enjoy with pasta, in subs, or on their own.
Notes
For juicier meatballs, do not skip the milk or grated onion—they keep the mixture moist.
Avoid overmixing the ingredients to prevent dense or tough meatballs.
You can prep and freeze a double batch to save time on future meals.
