Description

This Bold & Buttery Cuban Garlic Bread Sandwiches recipe combines savory smoked ham, melty cheese, and zesty pickles layered inside golden, garlic-buttered bread. A Cuban sandwich twist with crispy texture and bold flavor—perfect for lunch, dinner, or entertaining. Keywords: Cuban garlic bread sandwich, buttery Cuban sandwich, ham and cheese garlic bread.

Ingredients

4 slices Cuban bread or crusty white bread

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

4 slices smoked ham

4 slices salami or roasted pork

4 slices mozzarella or Swiss cheese

8 pickle slices

2 teaspoons yellow mustard

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley until well combined.

2. Slice the Cuban bread and generously brush the garlic butter mixture on the cut sides of each slice.

3. Spread mustard on the bottom slice of each sandwich.

4. Layer ham, salami or pork, pickles, and cheese on top of the mustard.

5. Cover with the second bread slice, buttered side facing out.

6. Preheat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium heat.

7. Place sandwiches in the pan and press down with a spatula or panini press.

8. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.

9. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 1 minute.

10. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispy texture, use a panini press or a heavy skillet to press the sandwich firmly.

You can prep garlic butter and fillings in advance, but grill fresh for best results.

Cuban bread is traditional, but French or sourdough makes a good substitute.
