Description

These Brown Butter Toffee Bars are chewy, buttery dessert bars layered with rich toffee and finished with flaky sea salt. Made with brown butter, condensed milk, and white chocolate chips, they’re perfect for parties, gifting, or sweet cravings. The ultimate easy toffee bar recipe with a gourmet twist!

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup white chocolate chips

1 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for topping)

1/4 teaspoon salt (for crust)

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden brown and nutty-smelling. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, flour, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix well until a dough forms.

3. Press the dough evenly into a parchment-lined 9×9-inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–20 minutes or until lightly golden.

4. While the crust bakes, heat the sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.

5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

6. Pour the toffee mixture over the warm crust. Spread evenly with a rubber spatula.

7. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top. Let cool completely at room temperature.

8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars.

Notes

Let the brown butter cool for 5 minutes before mixing with sugar to avoid scrambling the texture.

Always line your pan with parchment to ensure easy bar removal.

A light sprinkle of sea salt adds the perfect balance to the sweet toffee layer.
