Description
Carne Asada Street Tacos are the ultimate handheld dinner with bold Mexican flavor. Made with marinated grilled steak, fresh cilantro, onions, and warm corn tortillas, this quick and authentic taco recipe is perfect for weeknight meals or entertaining. Great with your favorite salsa and side dishes.
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds flank or skirt steak
¼ cup lime juice
¼ cup orange juice
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
12 small corn tortillas
½ cup chopped white onion (for topping)
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro (for topping)
Lime wedges (for serving)
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine lime juice, orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, olive oil, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper. Whisk well to make the marinade.
2. Place the steak in a zip-top bag or shallow dish and pour in the marinade. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
3. Preheat a grill or cast iron skillet over high heat. Grill steak for 5–7 minutes per side until nicely charred and medium-rare to medium inside.
4. Remove the steak and let it rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
5. Warm the corn tortillas in a skillet or tortilla warmer until soft and pliable.
6. Assemble tacos by placing steak slices in tortillas, then topping with chopped onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a spicier taco, add diced jalapeños or your favorite hot salsa.
Always slice the meat across the grain to keep it tender.
Letting the meat rest before slicing prevents juices from escaping and keeps it juicy.
