Ingredients
12 oz egg noodles, cooked al dente
1 lb ground beef
1 small yellow onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
½ cup breadcrumbs
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until fragrant and softened.
4. In a large pot, boil egg noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
5. In a large bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, ¾ cup cheddar cheese, ½ cup mozzarella, salt, and pepper.
6. Add cooked noodles and beef mixture to the bowl. Stir until fully coated.
7. Transfer everything into the prepared baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses and sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top.
8. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top.
9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
Shred cheese fresh if possible. Pre-shredded cheese contains anti-caking agents that reduce melting quality.
Don’t overcook noodles. Al dente noodles hold up best in baking without becoming mushy.
Make-ahead tip: Assemble the dish ahead of time and refrigerate, then bake when ready to serve.
