Description
This one-pan meal combines flavorful chicken sausage, tender broccoli, and creamy orzo in a skillet that’s both satisfying and easy to make. It’s perfect for busy nights when you need something wholesome and delicious without spending hours in the kitchen.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 chicken sausages, sliced
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups broccoli florets
1 cup orzo pasta
2 1/2 cups chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook until browned, 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion for about 3 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add broccoli and a splash of water. Cover and steam for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove lid and cook off any excess liquid.
- Stir in the orzo and toast for 1-2 minutes. Add chicken broth and bring to a gentle boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and most of the broth is absorbed.
- Return the sausage to the skillet and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper. Stir in Parmesan if using. Serve warm.
