Made with just a few ingredients, it’s the perfect make-ahead dessert for dinner parties, date nights, or holidays. This citrus chocolate posset recipe is a luxurious yet simple delight!
Ingredients
1 ½ cups heavy cream
4 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 pinch sea salt (optional)
Instructions
1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and orange zest. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved. Simmer for 3 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate. Let it sit for 1 minute, then whisk until smooth and fully melted.
3. Stir in orange juice and a pinch of salt. The mixture will slightly thicken.
4. For a smooth texture, strain through a fine mesh sieve into a jug.
5. Pour into ramekins or glasses. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
6. Garnish with whipped cream, candied orange peel, or chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
Do not boil the cream vigorously—gentle simmering keeps it smooth and creamy.
For an ultra-luxurious texture, always strain the mixture before chilling.
Use high-quality chocolate for the richest flavor.
