Ingredients

Elbow Macaroni

Butter

All-Purpose Flour

Whole Milk

Heavy Cream

Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Gruyère Cheese

Salt & Pepper

Ground Mustard

Paprika (optional)

Breadcrumbs (optional)


Instructions

  1. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  3. Slowly whisk in milk and cream. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Lower heat and stir in cheeses until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and ground mustard.
  5. Combine pasta with cheese sauce until well coated.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with breadcrumbs and extra cheese if desired.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
