Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2⁄3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1⁄2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
2 1⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
food coloring (optional)
decorative sprinkles
Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
2. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using). Beat until well combined.
3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms. If desired, divide dough and mix in food coloring.
4. Fill your cookie press with dough and press cookies directly onto ungreased, cool baking sheets using your preferred disk shape.
5. Decorate cookies with sprinkles or colored sugar before baking.
6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes or until the edges are set and bottoms are just golden.
7. Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, always press cookies onto cool baking sheets so they grip and form properly.
Don’t grease your baking sheets or line with parchment; the dough needs friction to release from the press.
If dough is too soft, chill it for 10–15 minutes before using the cookie press.
