Description
This Classic Christmas Raspberry Jam recipe is a festive, homemade raspberry jam perfect for holiday breakfasts or gifting. Made with raspberries, chia seeds, maple syrup or honey, and warm spices, it’s naturally sweetened, easy to prepare, and delicious on everything from toast to desserts.
Ingredients
2 cups fresh raspberries
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 to 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
1. Add raspberries to a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally until they break down, about 5 minutes.
2. Mash the softened berries using a fork or potato masher, leaving some chunks for texture if desired.
3. Stir in lemon juice, sweetener (maple syrup or honey), and optional spices or vanilla extract. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
4. Remove from heat and stir in the chia seeds. Mix well.
5. Let the jam sit for 10–15 minutes to thicken. Add more chia seeds for a thicker consistency if needed.
6. Transfer the jam to sterilized glass jars. Cool completely before sealing.
7. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
Use a fine mesh sieve to strain out raspberry seeds if you prefer a smoother texture.
For added holiday flavor, try adding a pinch of clove or allspice.
Adjust sweetness to taste as raspberries vary in tartness.
