Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque Recipe

Description

This creamy and luxurious Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque combines tender seafood with a rich, flavorful broth. Ideal for cozy dinners or as a show-stopping first course, it’s both elegant and comforting.


Ingredients

1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined

1/2 pound lump crab meat

4 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

3 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup whole milk

1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1 bay leaf

Juice of 1/2 lemon


Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add flour and stir constantly to make a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in seafood stock, then add tomato paste, wine, paprika, cayenne, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Lower heat and stir in cream and milk.
  7. Add shrimp and crab meat; cook until shrimp are pink and opaque.
  8. Remove bay leaf, stir in lemon juice and parsley.
  9. Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
