This creamy and luxurious Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque combines tender seafood with a rich, flavorful broth. Ideal for cozy dinners or as a show-stopping first course, it’s both elegant and comforting.
Ingredients
1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 pound lump crab meat
4 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
1 bay leaf
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add flour and stir constantly to make a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in seafood stock, then add tomato paste, wine, paprika, cayenne, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Lower heat and stir in cream and milk.
- Add shrimp and crab meat; cook until shrimp are pink and opaque.
- Remove bay leaf, stir in lemon juice and parsley.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
