Description

Creamy Chicken and Biscuits is a comforting one-skillet dinner recipe featuring tender shredded chicken in a rich creamy sauce topped with golden, fluffy biscuits. This easy, family-friendly meal is perfect for cozy weeknights or Sunday dinners. Keywords: creamy chicken and biscuits, chicken skillet recipes, biscuit casserole, chicken comfort food.

Ingredients

3 cups cooked shredded chicken

3 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream or whole milk

1 medium yellow onion, diced

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh thyme or parsley, chopped

1 can refrigerated biscuits or 8 homemade biscuit rounds

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 4–5 minutes until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

2. Sprinkle flour over the onion mixture and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.

3. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, followed by the cream or milk. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

4. Stir in the shredded chicken, salt, pepper, and fresh herbs. Mix well and let heat through.

5. Arrange the biscuit dough evenly on top of the chicken filling.

6. Bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 15–18 minutes or until biscuits are golden and cooked through.

7. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let the creamy filling cool for 5 minutes before topping with biscuits to prevent soggy bottoms.

Use rotisserie chicken to save prep time and add more flavor.

For extra texture, add 1/2 cup of frozen peas or sautéed mushrooms into the filling before baking.
