Description

This creamy homemade tartar sauce is the ultimate seafood dip, loaded with dill pickles, lemon juice, and fresh herbs. A tangy, zesty, and easy-to-make condiment that’s perfect with fish, fries, or veggies.

Ingredients

2/3 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon fresh chopped dill

1 tablespoon chopped capers (optional)

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Finely chop dill pickles, fresh dill, and capers if using. Zest and juice the lemon.

2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice until smooth.

3. Stir in chopped pickles, dill, lemon zest, and capers until evenly combined.

4. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix well.

5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

Chop all mix-ins finely for a smoother sauce texture.

Always use fresh lemon juice to brighten the overall flavor.

Keep the tartar sauce stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
