Ingredients
113 g cream cheese
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped fresh strawberries
2 tablespoons strawberry jam
8 egg roll wrappers or pie dough rounds
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Oil for frying (enough for deep frying, about 4 cups)
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
1. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Chill for 10 minutes.
2. Lay out the egg roll wrappers or pie dough. Add a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture, a few chopped strawberries, and a bit of strawberry jam in the center of each.
3. Brush edges with egg wash, then fold into triangles or rectangles. Press and seal tightly.
4. Heat oil to 350°F in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot.
5. Fry the pies in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
6. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined rack to drain.
7. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
Don’t overfill the pies; a little goes a long way and keeps them sealed while frying.
Use a thermometer to maintain steady oil temperature—this ensures even browning.
