Description
This Easy Sugar Cookie Glaze is a no-fuss, glossy icing made with powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract—perfect for decorating and stacking sugar cookies. Quick to dry, easy to color, and totally delicious.
Ingredients
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Gel food coloring (optional)
Instructions
1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk. Gradually add more milk until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
2. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract for flavor.
3. If desired, divide glaze into separate bowls and add gel food coloring to each. Mix thoroughly.
4. Use squeeze bottles, piping bags, or a spoon to apply glaze to cooled cookies. Use toothpicks for detailed spreading.
5. Allow cookies to dry at room temperature for 4–6 hours, or overnight, until the glaze hardens completely.
Notes
For thicker glaze, reduce milk to 1 tablespoon and add more powdered sugar if needed.
Use gel food coloring for vibrant color without thinning the glaze.
Store leftover glaze in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
