Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef (80/20 recommended)
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese (plus extra for topping)
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for topping blend)
1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-style)
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Fresh chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. In a skillet, sauté onions and green pepper over medium heat until soft, about 5–7 minutes. Let cool slightly.
3. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed veggies, breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, eggs, Worcestershire, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
4. Transfer mixture to prepared loaf pan. Shape evenly and smooth the top.
5. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
6. Remove from oven, top with additional shredded cheese, and return to bake for 10–15 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted and internal temp is 160°F (71°C).
7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
8. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
