Ingredients
2 ripe pears
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts (optional)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cut the pears in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and core with a melon baller or spoon. Trim the bottoms slightly to help them lay flat.
3. Brush each pear half with lemon juice to prevent browning.
4. Optional: Dot each pear with a small piece of butter for added richness.
5. Place pears cut-side up in a baking dish. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until fork-tender but still intact.
6. Remove pears from the oven. Fill each hollowed center with crumbled blue cheese.
7. Return to the oven for 5 more minutes to soften and melt the cheese slightly.
8. Drizzle each warm pear half generously with honey.
9. Top with chopped walnuts if using, and serve immediately.
Notes
Choose Bosc or Anjou pears for best baking results—they hold their shape beautifully.
To mellow out the blue cheese, mix it with a little cream cheese before filling.
Want a touch more flavor? Add a light sprinkle of black pepper or thyme before serving.
