Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
4 sandwich buns, lightly toasted
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 4–5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and ketchup. Mix well. If thicker consistency is desired, dissolve cornstarch in a tablespoon of water and stir into the mixture.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce heat to low.
- Place cheese slices over the beef mixture and cover with a lid to melt. Once melted, stir gently if preferred.
- Spoon the hot mixture onto toasted sandwich buns. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve immediately.
