Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
Pink, blue, and purple gel food coloring
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.
3. Add egg, vanilla extract, and cotton candy flavoring. Beat until combined.
4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
6. Divide dough evenly into three bowls. Color each one with a different gel food coloring: pink, blue, and purple.
7. Take a small piece from each colored dough, press them together gently, and roll into a ball. Avoid overmixing to preserve the swirl.
8. Place on prepared baking sheets using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, and slightly flatten each cookie.
9. Bake for 8–10 minutes, just until the edges are set. Centers may look soft—this is ideal.
10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Enjoy!
Notes
Use gel food coloring for vivid colors without altering dough texture.
Don’t over-swirl or mix the colors—gentle pressing gives the best visual effect.
The cookies freeze beautifully. Store rolled dough in freezer bags and bake from frozen when needed.
