Glacé Cherries and Candied Citrus Peel
Nuts (Walnuts or Pecans)
Brown Sugar
Butter
Eggs
All-Purpose Flour

Vanilla Extract
Rum or Brandy (Optional)
Instructions
- Combine dried fruits and nuts in a bowl. Soak overnight in rum or brandy if using.
- Beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and spices.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
- Fold in the fruit and nut mixture.
- Pour batter into lined cake pan.
- Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Cool in the pan before transferring to a rack.
- Wrap and store; brush with alcohol for aging if desired.
