Description

Crispy Homemade Hash Brown Patties made with simple ingredients like russet potatoes, flour, and egg. These golden, crunchy breakfast classics are freezer-friendly, easy to prepare, and perfect for pairing with eggs or adding to sandwiches. Great for brunch or busy mornings!

Ingredients

2 large Russet potatoes

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 large egg

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. Peel and grate the potatoes, then soak in cold water for 10 minutes to remove excess starch.

2. Drain the potatoes and squeeze them dry using a cheesecloth or clean kitchen towel.

3. In a bowl, mix the grated potatoes with flour, egg, salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder until combined.

4. Scoop about 1/4 cup of mixture and shape into patties, flattening slightly.

5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

6. Fry the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.

7. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.

8. Serve hot with your favorite toppings or sides.

Notes

Be sure to squeeze out all the moisture from the potatoes to ensure crispiness.

You can freeze the uncooked patties and cook them straight from frozen.

Frying in batches helps maintain oil temperature for even browning.
