This easy candy recipe is perfect for holidays, gifting, or whenever you need a cool chocolate mint fix. Naturally gluten-free and freezer-friendly, they’re a must-try dessert!
Ingredients
2 ½ cups powdered sugar
⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
10 ounces dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil or shortening
2 tablespoons crushed peppermint candies (optional)
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, combine powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and peppermint extract. Beat until a thick, smooth dough forms.
2. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, flatten into disks, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
3. Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, stirring until smooth.
4. Using a fork, dip each frozen peppermint disk into the melted chocolate. Tap off excess and place back on parchment.
5. Optionally, sprinkle with crushed peppermint while chocolate is still wet. Allow patties to set at room temperature or in the fridge.
Notes
If the dough feels too sticky, add a bit more powdered sugar until it becomes pliable.
For a gourmet touch, drizzle with white chocolate or sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
Freeze patties in layers with parchment between them for long-term storage.
