Description

This Homemade Tartar Sauce is creamy, zesty, and full of fresh dill, tangy pickles, and bright lemon flavor. Perfect for pairing with fried fish, crab cakes, or roasted veggies, it’s better than any store-bought version. Make this easy sauce in minutes with just a handful of pantry ingredients.


Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickles

1 tablespoon capers, chopped

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 small garlic clove, minced (optional)

Salt and black pepper, to taste


Instructions

1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice.

2. Add the lemon zest, chopped dill pickles, and capers. Mix well.

3. Stir in the fresh dill, parsley, and garlic if using.

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld.

6. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Notes

For extra tang, add a splash of pickle juice or white wine vinegar.

Let the sauce rest in the fridge—30 minutes enhances the flavor beautifully.

If using store-bought mayo, opt for full-fat for the best creamy texture.
