Description

These honey garlic pork belly slices are richly glazed and oven-roasted to perfection. Sweet, savory, and slightly sticky, they make a satisfying main course paired with rice and vegetables.


Ingredients

1.5 to 2 pounds pork belly slices (about 1-inch thick)

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)

Sliced scallions and chopped parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Mix honey, soy sauce, hoisin, vinegar, oil, garlic, ginger, pepper, and chili flakes.
  2. Marinate pork belly in the mixture for 2+ hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a tray with foil and place a rack on top.
  4. Lay slices on the rack and roast for 25 minutes.
  5. Flip, baste with extra marinade, and roast for 20-25 minutes more.
  6. Broil for 2-3 minutes for crisp edges if desired.
  7. Garnish with scallions and parsley.
  8. Serve with rice and your favorite veggies.
