Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tbsp lemon zest
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup whole milk
3/4 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
2 tbsp lemon juice (for glaze)
Lemon slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in lemon zest and juice.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry mix.
- Pour batter into pan, smooth top, and bake 45–55 minutes.
- Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to a rack.
- Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice to make glaze. Drizzle over warm cake.
- Top with lemon slices if using.
