Golden, crispy, and filled with cheesy goodness, these Mashed Potato Cheese Puffs are the perfect appetizer or snack. With simple ingredients and quick preparation, they transform leftover mashed potatoes into a crunchy, creamy delight that’s great for entertaining or indulging anytime.

Ingredients

2 cups mashed potatoes (smooth and thick, not runny)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 large egg

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (plus more if needed)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Chopped chives or parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, egg, flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix thoroughly until a cohesive dough forms. Add more flour if mixture feels too sticky.
  3. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls.
  4. Optional: Chill puffs in the fridge for 15-30 minutes to help maintain their shape.
  5. Cook using one of the following methods:
    • Bake: Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
    • Air Fry: Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes.
    • Pan-Fry: Fry in a little oil over medium heat, turning to brown all sides.
