A bold and savory one-pan meal, this One-Skillet Spicy Honey BBQ Sausage & Pasta blends juicy sausage slices, tender rotini pasta, and a sweet-heat BBQ sauce. Infused with garlic, onion, and a touch of chili, this dish is perfect for a fast, satisfying dinner that’s ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
12 oz rotini pasta
14 oz smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
1 tbsp olive oil
1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (spicy preferred)
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ small onion, finely chopped
1 cup chicken broth (or water)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional: grated parmesan or chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted boiling water until just shy of al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage slices and sear until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add onion and sauté until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add BBQ sauce, honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and chicken broth. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Return sausage to the skillet and coat with sauce. Add pasta and stir to combine. Simmer uncovered for 2–3 minutes.
- Taste and season with salt and pepper. Garnish if desired and serve hot.
