Description

This Perfect Apple Cobbler recipe features tender spiced apples under a golden buttery topping, baked to perfection. An easy, comforting dessert made with pantry staples, ideal for holidays, potlucks, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for filling)

1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/2 cup milk

Instructions

1. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss them with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon flour.

2. Spread the coated apples in a greased 9×13 baking dish. Let sit while you make the topping.

3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter until crumbly. Stir in milk until just combined.

4. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the apple mixture.

5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.

6. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for depth of flavor.

Keep the butter cold when making the topping for the perfect crumble.

Don’t overmix the topping dough—rustic texture is best.
