1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for filling)
1 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

2. Spread the coated apples in a greased 9×13 baking dish. Let sit while you make the topping.
3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter until crumbly. Stir in milk until just combined.
4. Drop spoonfuls of the topping over the apple mixture.
5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
6. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for depth of flavor.
Keep the butter cold when making the topping for the perfect crumble.
Don’t overmix the topping dough—rustic texture is best.
