Ingredients
12 corn tortillas
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
2. Add chopped onion and garlic, then season with salt and pepper. Cook until onion softens.
3. Warm tortillas slightly to prevent cracking.
4. Add about 2 tablespoons of beef mixture to each tortilla and fold in half. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
5. Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry each taco 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
6. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.
7. Serve hot with toppings like shredded lettuce, salsa, crema, and cheese.
Notes
Warm the tortillas in a microwave or on a hot skillet to make folding easier and prevent cracking.
Don’t overcrowd the pan while frying to maintain oil temperature and crispiness.
Toothpicks are helpful to keep tacos sealed while frying, but they’re optional.
