Description

Recreate the beloved Texas Roadhouse Rolls at home with this soft, buttery, and slightly sweet dinner roll recipe. Perfect for family meals, holidays, or anytime you crave homemade bread. These easy yeast rolls pair well with cinnamon honey butter and freeze beautifully.

Ingredients

1 cup warm milk

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons melted butter

1 large egg

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

1. Warm the milk until just lukewarm and dissolve the sugar in it. Sprinkle yeast over the milk and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. In a stand mixer, combine the yeast mixture with melted butter, egg, salt, and half of the flour. Mix until smooth.

3. Gradually add the remaining flour and knead with a dough hook until the dough is soft and slightly tacky.

4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.

5. Punch down the dough and transfer to a floured surface. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut into 2×2-inch squares.

6. Place on a greased baking sheet, cover loosely, and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes or until golden on top.

8. Remove from oven and brush immediately with melted butter.

Notes

Be sure your milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.

Use a kitchen scale for more accurate flour measurement to avoid dense rolls.

Let the rolls rise fully in both stages to ensure light, fluffy texture.
