Description

These Thai Basil Beef Rolls are the perfect light yet satisfying appetizer, blending ground beef, Thai basil, and savory sauces in rice paper wrappers. Packed with umami flavor and fresh crunch, this gluten-free Asian-inspired snack is great for meal prepping, entertaining, or healthy lunches.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 cup Thai basil leaves, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 green onions, sliced

810 rice paper wrappers

1 cup fresh lettuce or baby greens

1/2 cup sliced cucumbers (optional)

1/2 cup shredded carrots (optional)

1/2 cup bean sprouts (optional)

Instructions

1. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil. Sauté garlic until fragrant.

2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.

3. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, Thai basil, and green onions. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

4. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper for 5–7 seconds until just softened.

5. Place the wrapper on a clean towel. Add lettuce, a spoonful of the beef mixture, and optional veggies.

6. Fold sides inward and roll tightly from the bottom to enclose the filling.

7. Repeat until all filling is used.

8. Slice in half if desired and serve with dipping sauce.

Notes

Don’t over-soak the rice paper or it will tear; just a few seconds in warm water is enough.

Keep a damp towel over rolled wraps if making ahead to prevent them from drying.

Customize easily with tofu or mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
