Description

Golden, salty, and filled with molten cheese, these pretzel bites are the ultimate appetizer. Each bite delivers soft pretzel dough and melty cheese in perfect balance, making them a party favorite or a cozy treat at home.


Ingredients

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm water

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)

1 cup melting cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or Gouda), cubed or shredded

¼ cup baking soda (for boiling water)

Coarse sea salt (for topping)


Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix until dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  5. Punch down dough. Divide into golf ball-sized pieces. Flatten, fill with cheese, and seal.
  6. Boil water and add baking soda. Boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds each. Drain and place on baking sheet.
  7. Brush with butter, sprinkle with sea salt. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm for gooey cheese perfection.
