Ingredients
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing)
1 cup melting cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or Gouda), cubed or shredded
¼ cup baking soda (for boiling water)
Coarse sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, melted butter, and salt. Mix until dough forms. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Punch down dough. Divide into golf ball-sized pieces. Flatten, fill with cheese, and seal.
- Boil water and add baking soda. Boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds each. Drain and place on baking sheet.
- Brush with butter, sprinkle with sea salt. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
- Serve warm for gooey cheese perfection.
