Description

Sweet, crunchy, and coated in a rich buttery caramel layer, these Butter Toffee Pretzels are an easy recipe that works as a quick snack, party treat, holiday dessert, and fun food idea for sharing. This sweet and salty favorite is perfect when you need easy dessert ideas, homemade snack recipes, or a fast make-ahead treat everyone will want to grab by the handful.

Ingredients

4 cups mini pretzels

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup toffee bits

1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

1. Line a large baking sheet or tray with parchment paper and place the mini pretzels in a large mixing bowl.

2. Add the butter and brown sugar to a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir until melted and smooth.

3. Let the mixture bubble gently for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring often, until it looks glossy and thickened.

4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda until fully combined.

5. Pour the hot toffee mixture over the pretzels and toss quickly until the pretzels are evenly coated.

6. Add the toffee bits, chopped pecans, and sea salt, then toss again lightly so they stick to the coating.

7. Spread the coated pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.

8. Let them cool completely for about 30 to 40 minutes until crisp and set.

9. Break apart the clusters and serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Do not cook the toffee over very high heat or it may taste burnt instead of rich and buttery.

You can swap pecans for almonds or peanuts if you want a different crunchy finish.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
