Ingredients
12 ounces egg noodles
4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup whole milk
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles until just tender according to the package directions, then drain well.
2. In a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until smooth and lightly bubbling.
4. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth, then add the milk, stirring until the sauce is smooth.
5. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce starts to thicken.
6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until fully blended.
7. Add the cooked noodles to the sauce and toss gently until evenly coated.
8. Let the noodles warm through for 1 to 2 minutes.
9. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
Add a splash of milk when reheating to keep the sauce creamy.
Do not boil the sauce after adding sour cream or it may lose its smooth texture.
Fresh cracked black pepper on top gives the finished dish even more flavor.
