Description

This easy fall caramel apple jam is sweet, cozy, and packed with warm apple flavor in every spoonful. Made with tender apples, brown sugar, butter, and fall spices, it is a delicious easy recipe for breakfast ideas, snack boards, dessert toppings, and homemade food ideas all season long.

Ingredients

4 cups apples, peeled cored and diced

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/4 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small even pieces.

2. Add the apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, lemon juice, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to a medium saucepan.

3. Stir over medium heat until the mixture starts bubbling and the sugar begins to dissolve.

4. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring often, until the apples are very soft and the mixture thickens.

5. Stir in the butter and vanilla extract, then cook for 3 to 5 more minutes until rich and glossy.

6. Mash some of the apples with a potato masher or spoon for your preferred texture.

7. Remove from the heat and let the jam cool slightly.

8. Spoon into clean jars or containers and cool completely before refrigerating.

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best balanced flavor.

Mash more for a smoother jam or leave extra chunks for a rustic texture.

The jam thickens more as it cools, so do not overcook it trying to make it too firm in the pan.
