Description

These Fudgy Brownie Waffles are rich, chocolatey, crisp on the outside, and soft in the middle, making them perfect for a quick breakfast, easy dessert, sweet brunch, chocolate snack, and fun food ideas when you want an easy recipe that feels extra special.

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for topping

1/4 cup caramel sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

1. Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it with nonstick spray or melted butter.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.

5. Fold in the chocolate chips and let the batter rest for 2 minutes.

6. Spoon batter into the hot waffle iron, using enough to fill most of the grid without overfilling.

7. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the waffles are set and slightly crisp on the outside.

8. Carefully remove the waffles and place them on a wire rack for 1 to 2 minutes.

9. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with caramel sauce, and serve warm.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs for a smoother batter and more even mixing.

Do not overmix the batter or the waffles can turn cakey instead of fudgy.

Let the cooked waffles rest briefly on a wire rack so the edges stay crisp.
