Description
Pepper Jelly & Cream Cheese Pinwheels are a quick appetizer packed with creamy cheese, flaky pastry, crispy bacon, and sweet heat from pepper jelly. This easy recipe is perfect for holiday gatherings, game day snacks, party platters, and simple food ideas when you need a fast crowd-pleasing bite.
Ingredients
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1/3 cup pepper jelly
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
4 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, and most of the chopped bacon until well combined.
3. Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and gently smooth the seams if needed.
4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
5. Spoon the pepper jelly over the cream cheese layer and spread it gently across the surface.
6. Roll the pastry tightly into a log, starting from one long side.
7. Chill the log for 20 minutes if it feels too soft to slice cleanly.
8. Cut the log into even pinwheels and place them cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
9. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining bacon.
10. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
11. Cool for a few minutes, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
Use softened cream cheese so it spreads easily and does not tear the pastry.
Chill the pastry log before slicing if the dough becomes too soft.
Serve warm for the best flaky texture and creamy center.
