Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups uncooked pasta (elbow or ziti recommended)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon chili powder or smoked paprika
Optional garnish: chopped parsley or green onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef and onion. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, and optional spices. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Combine cooked pasta and meat sauce in a large bowl.
- Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
- Let cool slightly, garnish if desired, and serve warm.
